What originally drew you to SMPS?
What originally drew me to SMPS was the strong presence it has within my workplace. Being surrounded by colleagues who were actively involved showed me the value of the organization and how it supports professional growth, collaboration, and best practices in A/E/C marketing.
How has SMPS been valuable to you personally and/or professionally?
SMPS has been valuable by supporting my professional growth, expanding my industry knowledge, and connecting me with a network of peers working in similar industries.
What is one way SMPS has helped you grow in your career or role?
One way SMPS has helped me grow my career is by connecting me with a community of marketing professionals who share knowledge, ideals, and real world experiences. Graduating from college and coming right into the A/E/C industry required a lot of learning as you go, and SMPS has helped me be more confident in my work.
Have you built meaningful relationships through SMPS? If so, how have they impacted you?
I have built meaningful relationships through SMPS. I have made both professional and personal relationships through SMPS. This positively impacts me when attending events; I feel more welcome and confident, and I feel supported in my career.
What SMPS experience, program,or moment stands out most to you?
One of the first events I attend when I joined SMPS was the Marketing Magic Awards. It stood out to me because it was amazing to see all the similar work we do in our careers, and what a talented group we have at SMPS.
Another moment is joining the Membership committee and getting more involved, while getting to know the others on that committee.
How would you describe the value of SMPS to someone considering membership?
SMPS provides a supportive network, valuable industry knowledge, and opportunities for growth that make it an excellent resource for marketing professionals at any stage of their career.

What originally drew you to SMPS?
When I started at my current company, I was a one-woman marketing team with no prior experience in the AEC industry. At times, it felt like I was alone on an island. When I learned about SMPS, a whole community of AEC marketers, it was like finding a lifeline. I was so excited to connect with people in related roles and to have access to programs and resources directly applicable to my work.
How has SMPS been valuable to you personally and/or professionally?
I like to say that SMPS is what made me love my job. The educational programs and resources helped to build confidence in my role, but the best part was joining a committee. Regularly meeting with the group helped me develop real relationships with people I can relate to, and who I now consider good friends. I’ve since moved into a business development role and am grateful to SMPS for laying the foundation of my network in this industry. This organization has been invaluable to my career.
What is one way SMPS has helped you grow in your career or role?
When I need inspiration or assistance with a task, I have a whole network of SMPS marketers I can reach out to. Connecting and learning from other members has been crucial to my career growth and success.
Have you built meaningful relationships through SMPS? If so, how have they impacted you?
In 2023, I attended the SMPS Amplify Conference in Austin, TX. During the very first session, I sat next to someone from the Columbus chapter who held a similar role to mine, except she had about 10 years more experience. We connected a lot throughout the conference and, by the end, decided to stay in touch to explore a mentor-mentee relationship. To this day, we still meet virtually about once a month and have become good friends. This relationship has been incredibly valuable both personally and professionally.
What SMPS experience, program, or moment stands out most to you?
The second event I ever attended with SMPS was an end-of-year membership appreciation party. I walked in not knowing a single other person and left feeling like I was part of a community.
How would you describe the value of SMPS to someone considering membership?
Marketing roles in the AEC industry are demanding and, at times, misunderstood. SMPS is the only professional development organization that specifically serves marketers and provides the resources and support they need. The value of joining is undeniable, and I can’t imagine where I’d be in my career today without it.
